Like Willis Reed, emerging from the locker room, I have come back from the dead to run in today's race. The orthotics fit right and I got the word from the Chiropractor (once again, he's a rockstar) that I won't do any damage, and that running with proper orthotics is actually THERAPEUTIC. I don't know if running 18 miles in a single day would classify as therapeutic, but I'm excited to get back out there. Stay tuned for more updates, we're leaving the Poirier/Lowell compound in less than an hour.

touch & go
I can confirm, I pulled up last week with a return of the nasty, beastly ITBS injury on my left side. Not even my rockstar chiropractor has been able to release the joint completely. A single ray of hope shone upon my weakened limb today as new orthotics arrived. They're much harsher in the support area than the old ones, I'm wearing them now for the 5th hour (they recommend 2 hours for the 1st day) and my arches are saying, "really dude? We need that much help?" I've called upon Tom "Wildman" Wilder as a potential sub. He's registered as an alternate, changed his weekend plans and is on the next flight from (where's he from). In all seriousness, this is a tough call for me, I had such a blast last year and cardio-wise I'm in better shape. I'll see the chiro one last time tomorrow before the weekend and see what he thinks. If I can run without further injury to the band but with some pain (because the damn thing takes FOREVER to heal), then I'll give it a go. If not, I'll alert the presses.
Dinner is still on for those making the trek to S.Burlington tomorrow night, either way.

Audible?
So word on the street is that DP might go all Michael Johnson and come up lame. As our soul native son, can it be true. Check back for this developing story, which has more drama than Bravo, E! and TMZ rolled into one.

Heat training might come in handy.......
For all the complaining the boys from the south have been spewing (Dwight, Sammy) Saturday's Stowe, VT weather forecast...........High: 87°F RealFeel®: 88°F
The evening runs should be more pleasant, temps drop into the 60's.

Say what?!
A minor controversy broke out amongst the Killaz this week, as we got down to the nitty gritty, last minute cram session on how to run our legs. It seems that many took the question, " what is your pace for a 5 mile race" as separate and different from "how fast do you think you'll run as an average for all 3 of your legs" Jeff Lyndaker (of the 6:00 declared pace) emphatically declared, "I'm running 6:17's all day and night!", even though we know he'll probably get into it with a couple of slugs during leg 2 and clean out the carburator with 5:50's. Stay tuned, I personally believe all this early build up of bile will help us.
Start Times!
There are 4 teams with 10am start times: Boreal Boys, OSX, Six Legs, and SLU Track Starz (Maswick, Jim Hall, etc). There are 5 teams set for 9:45, including Don't Worry About It (Liz, Lawton, the Barrs, etc), St. Lawrence Masta-Killaz (Sammy, Derek, Dwight, AT, Fish & Jeff Lyndaker), SLU Alumni (Ostler, French & Co.), the Chipmen and Team Tri-State. The start wave before that is 9:15 with 5 more teams.
(SLU Ski, Lady Saints and Vermont Alpaca appear to have al-paca'd it in for the year.)

Up and Running...
We're officially 2-months out from this year's 100x100 Relay and the Masta-Killaz are gearing up, with a re-tooled, all-SLU Alumni line-up. Back from last year, we have Sammy, Dwight and Derek. Amy's moved over to Team "Don't Worry About It" - Open Division teams, you're on notice. I don't think Peter will ever talk to us again after we forced him to run up Killington last year... so we've recruited a few new-to-100x100 Saints. Joining the team this year, and shifting us into the Men's category (but keeping us all 30 plus) are Aaron "AT" Todd '00 (who recently got his competitive fire back), Jeff Lyndaker '96, and Saints' Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Michael P. "2Pac" Howard '85.
Git Out NOW!
